Q3 - 2012-13 - ANSWER


BRIC is a grouping acronym that refers to the countries of Brazil, Russia, India and China.

The acronym BRIC was coined by Jim O'Neill (Chairman of Goldman Sachs Asset Management) in a 2001 paper entitled "Building Better Global Economic BRICs".

The capital “S” in BRICS stands for South Africa.South Africa was officially admitted as a BRIC nation on December 24, 2010.

In 2005 Goldman Sachs identified another classification, that of N11 or Next 11 countries with a high potential of becoming the world’s largest economies in the 21st century along with the BRICS.

The N-11 countries include Bangladesh, Egypt, Indonesia, Iran, Korea, Mexico, Nigeria, Pakistan, Philippines, Turkey and Vietnam.
